The discovery well, Compae-1 encountered over 400 feet of gas column with an absolute open flow potential of 24 MMCFD from the Socuy and the La Luna carbonate formations. Three delineation wells, Compae-2, Compae-3 and Compae-4 drilled the structure.

The field’s reserves are estimated at 10 billion cubic feet of gas. A gas pipeline of 23 miles (37 km) will tie-in to the existing Ballena-Barrancabermeja pipeline in 2008. Production from the Maracas field should start in 2008 with Texican Oil Plc. operator and partner Georex (POROS SAS).

Poros's parent company Georex, has been active in Colombia since 1996 and owns a carried interest of 5 % on production, development and exploration assets of the Maracas Association Contract.
